A SHOW FOR A CHANGE FILM FESTIVAL ANNOUNCES AUGUST 2018 AWARD WINNERS FOR CHANGEMAKING FILMS  

Long Beach, CA - September 9, 2018A Show For A Change today announced several winners for its monthly global film festival, celebrating socially impactful films from around the world.

“We’re honored to recognize these changemaking, gripping films that illuminate the challenges of our time,” said Jared Milrad, founder and president of A Show For A Change. “From India to Mexico to Australia, our film festival continues to spread a global message of positivity and hope. I’m thrilled that our festival is elevating the voices of these brave filmmakers.”

This month’s winners include:

  • Social Impact Award:Slaughterhouse: What the meat industry hides,” which tells the harrowing story of farmed animals in Mexico, was directed by Alicia Alberas.

  • Social Impact Award: “Rebirth” reflects human insensibility, false ideals and hypocrisy.

  • Social Impact Award: “Inheritance” focuses on a victim of domestic violence who does not speak out against it, only to find out a relative is a victim as well.

Award-winning filmmaker Amar Jyoti Jha expressed his excitement and gratitude for being recognized for his powerful film, Rebirth. “Thank you very much for choosing my film "REBIRTH" as an award winner. I will continue to make good films and will continue to send them to your film festival.” Filmmaker Alicia Alberas’s Slaughterhouse. What the meat industry hides was awarded August’s Social Impact Award, and she recognized the festival by mentioning it on her Instagram page.

The film festival’s goal is to build a world filled with greater empathy and shared prosperity.

A Show For A Change invites filmmakers who share a passion for changing the world through the power of storytelling to submit to our monthly film festival. We seek diverse, engaging stories that address societal, environmental, and cultural issues.
